RACO-EPS - Electronic Position System

The non-contact EPS position sensor system is a tried and tested component of RACO actuators for monitoring end positions, analogue position feedback or electronic overload cut-off according to the RPM principle (RPM principle = sensory speed monitoring).

The RACO positioning system has been designed especially for positioning electromechanical actuators for carrying out linear movements. Position detection is contactless via a magnetic field coupling and is also guaranteed in the event of a power failure, as a lithium battery supplies the system with energy in standby mode. This corresponds to the characteristics of a multiturn absolute encoder with digital signals and also offers the output of the actual value as an analogue signal.

You can select the optimum solution for your plant topography from the path sensor variants. All series and sizes of RACO electric actuators can be equipped with RACO EPS sensor technology.

Advantages & Benetfits

  • compact, modular structure
  • convenient adjustment in the teach-in or via PC Windows software
  • low switching hysteresis
  • precise switching positions
  • wear-resistant and with repeat accuracy - no need for manual transmission with play
  • simple and intelligent diagnosis
  • Temperature monitoring of the motor windings and signalling via EPS path sensor

EPS 02

The basic version EPS02 enables the monitoring of end positions by means of 2 adjustable relay contacts in teach-in mode. The end positions are not traversable and therefore provide a high degree of operational safety. Compared to a classic design with mechanical limit switches and an individually adaptable manual transmission, the installation, commissioning, maintenance and upgrade are simplified.

Technical Highlights of the EPS 02 Sensor

  • non-contact, wear-free sensor system
  • digital resolution < 0.01 mm
  • battery buffering in the case of a power failure (service life >10 years)
  • integrated evaluation of thermal contact / PTC thermistor sensor
  • switching points adjustable in the teach-in

EPS 06 with analog Feedback

With the RACO EPS 06 position sensor, additional functions have been integrated into the tried and tested RACO position sensor. With an additional interface board, space has been created for further analogue and digital outputs and additional functionality.

In addition to the 2 end position monitoring systems (relay contacts), there are now 4 adjustable intermediate positions available, calibratable analogue position feedback and an electronic overload protection (RPM function) with adjustable time for start override and speed shut-down. Effective in both directions and locking in overload direction.

The parameterisation is carried out by means of an intuitive Windows PC program. The connection is made via the USB cable supplied. The software is used for the diagnosis and parameterisation of the switching points and function.
